We Can Hear It Now...

"No one could have predicted a civil war in Iraq..."

Except, of course, for all the people who did. The ones who knew what they were talking about.

Sadly, none of them worked for the "Project for a New American Century".

Removing Saddam was like pulling the cork out of a bottle. No number of U.S. troops would have been able to control Iraq afterwards, unless we'd been willing to install some surrogate tyranny. Which we weren't--not because it would have been morally objectionable, but because it would have cost too much and played badly on TV.

What's left? Why, blaming Iran, of course. As if the presence of an Islamic theocracy on Iraq's border was a new development.

"It is Iran that is destabilizing the 'New Iraq'".

Oh yeah--here it comes.

Comments:
there were what, 130 deaths yesterday due to 'sectarian violence'?
because according to condi rice, the only people that talk about it in terms of 'civil war' are the foreign terrorists in iraq and they do it "to set the iraqis against themselves." but hey, what about us liberals?!!? we call it civil war too! not to cause any further problems, but simply because that's what it is. (we have the same problem with creationism/intelligent design.)

i hate to say it and i hope i'm wrong, but i'm afraid that by this time next week those foreign terrorists will have won, and even condi herself will have to call it a civil war.

on the plus side, maybe the troops will be coming home a bit earlier than expected? you know, so they can get ready to deploy to iran and continue the spread of democracy to countries that don't want or aren't ready for it - while the government keeps on spending our damn money overseas and skimping here

yay!

happy friday!
